Stainless Steel Fridges & Freezers: frequently asked questions
What is a stainless steel commercial fridge?
A commercial fridge or freezer whose exterior (and often interior) is made of stainless steel rather than painted or coloured steel. It is the standard choice for professional kitchens and premium displays because it is durable, hygienic and easy to clean.
Is stainless steel better than white steel?
For kitchens, yes: stainless steel resists knocks, corrosion and frequent cleaning. White or coloured steel is a cost-effective choice for stockrooms and lighter use.
What grade of stainless steel do you use?
Our premium cabinets use 304 grade stainless steel, the food-industry standard; gastronorm cabinet doors are 18/10 stainless steel. Each product page lists the materials.
How do I clean a stainless steel fridge?
Use warm soapy water or a stainless steel cleaner and a soft cloth, wipe with the grain and dry afterwards. Avoid scourers and bleach.

Why stainless steel?
Stainless steel is the standard material of professional kitchens for good reason: it resists corrosion and knocks, does not absorb odours, and can be cleaned and sanitised daily without losing its finish. In front-of-house displays, mirrored 304 stainless steel reflects light and keeps a premium look for years. This collection brings together every stainless steel fridge, freezer and display cabinet we sell.

Grades of stainless steel
Most of our premium cabinets use 304 grade stainless steel, the food-industry standard that resists corrosion from food acids and cleaning products; door panels on the gastronorm cabinets are 18/10 stainless steel. Some standard models combine a stainless steel door with a coloured steel or aluminium body – each product page says which parts are stainless.
Keeping stainless steel looking new
- Clean with warm soapy water or a stainless steel cleaner and a soft cloth, wiping in the direction of the grain.
- Avoid scourers, steel wool and chlorine bleach, which scratch and stain the surface.
- Dry after cleaning to avoid water marks, and clean door gaskets separately.
